ABOUT THE TRC

The Terrorism Research Center (TRC) in Fulbright College is non-partisan research organization housed in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University of Arkansas. The TRC’s mission is to use the tools of social science and data analytics to promote safer communities, inform evidence-based policies, and train the next generation of researchers and law enforcement professionals.

The TRC has been funded by the National Institute of Justice since the early 2000s. In addition to recent funding from the Department of Homeland Security, the Terrorism Research Center is currently funded by the National Science Foundation. Hundreds of student internships and graduate assistantships have been housed in the TRC during this time. Data requests by justice officials and crime researchers on issues of terrorism. violent extremism, hate crime, and human trafficking are filled by the TRC on a regular basis.

The Crime and Security Data Analytics Lab (CASDAL) was introduced as part of the TRC in 2020 to promote multidisciplinary research projects relating to crime and security issues, research partnerships in areas of crime and security with private and public agencies and offers training to students in areas and methodologies of crime analysis.
