Abigail Lutrick is a Senior majoring in Political Science with two minors in Philosophy and Legal Studies. Abigail was an intern for the ATS project in the fall of 2024.

Why did you want to intern with the TRC?

After taking Dr. Ryan’s Political Violence class, I discovered that I was interested in what drives people to take such violent action and how governments handle terroristic threats. So when I heard about the TRC, I knew it would be a great place to learn more and work with faculty and staff who have a lot of experience in this field of study.

How has working at the TRC prepared you for your career and what have you learned?

Working at the TRC has exposed me to many career options that I didn’t realize existed. I have always wanted to practice law but was never sure how to tie my interest in terrorism into that, but after attending meetings with TRC staff and guest speakers, I’ve learned about different agencies/organizations where I could combine both.

What are your postgrad plans?

I am currently working on law school applications and planning to start law school next Fall!

What advice do you have for future interns?

Go to every extra event or talk that the TRC puts on! You learn so much from talking with experts in the field, and it’s all for your benefit, so take advantage!

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I have played tennis for 11 years!
