Brooke Jackson is a Senior majoring in Criminology and minoring in Sociology. Brooke was an intern for the ECDB project in the fall of 2024.

Why did you want to intern with the TRC?

I really wanted to branch out and learn more about terrorism and different fields. As a senior, I feel like I have 100 different options to choose from, so I decided to make it 101 and join the TRC. I want to learn as much as I can, and I know I could get great experience and knowledge from the TRC.

How has working at the TRC prepared you for your career and what have you learned?

The TRC has really prepared me by giving me a real sense of stability and work ethic. I’ve done serving jobs, but this prepares me for life after my degree. Preparing for a big adult job feels less scary since interning with the TRC. I have learned what the future could look like for me and all the different possibilities.

What are your postgrad plans?

I plan to attend graduate school and get a master’s in criminology.

What advice do you have for future interns?

Relax. You’re in good hands and it’s not as scary as you think it’ll be. I feared the unknown coming into this and now I can truly say this is one of the best decisions of my college career.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I’m a good fisherman!
