Kenslee Roberson is a Junior majoring in Political Science and Criminology with minors in Sociology and Legal Studies. Kenslee was an intern for the CASDAL project in the spring of 2025.
Why did you want to intern with the TRC?
I really wanted to gain meaningful research experience and develop analytical skills to prepare me for my future career. I also was eager to meet more people who were passionate about national security and criminal justice, just like I am.
How has working at the TRC prepared you for your career and what have you learned?
My internship with the TRC has helped me prepare for the legal field immensely. I have strengthened my research and critical thinking skills greatly. This internship has also deepened my understanding and passion for criminal justice, especially in areas like crime prevention and reform.
What are your postgrad plans?
After graduation, I plan to attend law school with a focus on criminal or family law. I hope to gain more hands-on experience in these fields and build the skills needed to make a difference and advocate for others.
What advice do you have for future interns?
My advice is to not worry about the coding or the new team you’re joining. Everyone is so kind and helpful, so don’t hesitate to ask questions and make connections to get the most out of your experience.
What is a fun fact about yourself?
I was a competitive dancer for 17 years!
