The Human Trafficking Study (HTS) is an open-source database housed in the Terrorism Research Center (TRC), which captures data relating to human trafficking crime at instance and offender level. Database codebook and structure was built using the legal coding structure of the American Terrorism Study (ATS), accounting for trafficking specific variables. Data is collected from United States federal court cases of labor and sex trafficking, as well as child pornography cases in which the offender has both produced and distributed child sexual abuse material. HTS data includes over 40 variables relevant to trafficking cases such as legal factors, legal outcomes, and defendant background attributes.
